SMS Opt-In & Consent

This page documents exactly how Dean and Grey Care Services Inc (“Dean and Grey Care”) obtains consent before sending any text message, and the exact language and disclosures a person sees or hears at the time they opt in. It is published so that recipients, carriers, and reviewers can independently verify our opt-in (call-to-action) process.
Who receives messages and what they receive
Dean and Grey Care operates an SMS program through Twilio under the A2P 10DLC Low Volume Mixed use case, serving two audiences: (1) family members and authorized representatives of residents, and (2) employees of Dean and Grey Care Services Inc. Message types include:
- Appointment and care reminders for families and representatives;
- Celebration and activity notifications about residents’ lives in our homes;
- Timesheet confirmations and shift coordination for employees.
How consent is obtained
We never add a phone number on our own initiative. A person is added to the SMS program only after they affirmatively opt in through one of the three methods below. In every method, before any number is added, the individual is told — in the language shown below — that they will receive the message types listed above, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and that they may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.
Method 1 — Signed paper intake / consent form
During onboarding, each family member or employee completes a paper intake form that includes the dedicated SMS-consent section reproduced below. The consumer reads this statement and checks the box and signs to provide consent. This is the exact text printed on the form:
Method 2 — Written request by email or direct message
A family member or employee may also ask in writing — by email to info@deanandgrey.care or by direct message — to be added to SMS updates. Before we add the number, we reply with the following confirmation, and we add the number only after the person confirms:
“Thanks! To confirm: you’re opting in to text messages from Dean and Grey Care Services Inc, which may include appointment and care reminders, celebration and activity notifications, and (for employees) timesheet confirmations. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for help. Our Privacy Policy is at deanandgrey.care/privacy and Terms at deanandgrey.care/terms. Reply YES to confirm and we’ll add your number.”
Method 3 — Verbal consent (in person or by phone)
When consent is given verbally, the staff member reads the following script aloud before the number is added, and logs the consent:
“May we send you text messages from Dean and Grey Care Services Inc? These may include appointment and care reminders, celebration and activity notifications, and — if you’re an employee — timesheet confirmations. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Consent isn’t required to receive care or to be employed. Do you agree to receive these text messages?”
The staff member records the verbal consent in our internal log using this template:

Regardless of method, every person is told the following before their number is added:
- Sender: Dean and Grey Care Services Inc;
- Message types: care/appointment reminders, celebration & activity notifications, and (employees) timesheet confirmations;
- Message frequency varies;
- Message and data rates may apply;
- Reply STOP to opt out at any time;
- Reply HELP for assistance;
- Consent is not a condition of receiving care or of employment;
- Links to our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
How consent records are stored
Signed paper intake and consent forms are kept in locked storage at our administrative office. Written requests and verbal-consent logs are stored on access-controlled systems. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Opt out (STOP) and help (HELP)
Reply STOP to any message at any time to opt out; you will receive one confirmation and no further messages. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at info@deanandgrey.care or (916) 934-4234.
